What is the mask? the mask is just what it sounds like, it's a hard perforated plastic mask that was form fitted just for my face for radiation. How special I feel.
Ok this is how it goes,
I am laid out on a table, a bite tray that covers all my teeth and holds my tongue in place is positioned in my mouth, my head is then cocked back and the mask is placed over my entire face, then the mask and my head is clamped down to the table. RELAX I am told and breathe through your nose. This lasts for 30-45 minutes every day, 5 days a week for 7 weeks while they blast the cancer cells in my throat. The Lord answered and I was able to relax completely and find my happy place while the "MASK" was on. I was afraid that I might freak out being strapped down, unable to move, not to mention it is not a comfortable position, however the Lord was there and together He and I took the ride. First day down, only
34 more "MASK" moments to go.
Susan is going to take a picture of me strapped to the table with the mask on in the next day or so and we will post it....
Thank you for being a part of my life and praying for us,
Mike and Susan

Hang in there Mike, Jack Nicholson needs his stunt double back...
We hurt to hear the news, but put our faith and prayer in God's hands. We love you and will be praying for you and Susan and your family.
Thanks again for everything (the biggest understatement of our lives). We love you.

Mike and Susan... sometimes I have no words (though in my defense, I was never known for being eloquent!). I love you guys so much and am praying for you over here in Africa. Right now it's 2:00 a.m. your time, so I'm covering the "night shift" in prayer once again. When you wake up in the middle of the night, when satan attacks you with nasty thoughts or fears or discouragement, remember that the Ericksons are PRAYING for you. You are not forgotten... not even at 2:00 in the morning! May the love of God and the prayers of His saints sustain you. Much love, angela and dan
I thank you guys for the privilege of being part of your prayer team. It is an honor and a blessing to be included in your life. May God richly bless you through this time of trial and testing. May your love endure and carry you through these times. I will be praying for all your requests.
Yia sou...MIke and Susan....
We a musta keepa the humor a going in order to survive a this... so here's a one for today.
Man walks into the Doctors office.
"I have the results of your test and I'm afraid you’re going to die" Says the Doctor.
The Man asks "How long do I have to live?"
"Ten", replies the Doctor.
"What the heck does that mean", the Man asks. "Ten Years, Ten Months, Ten weeks. What?"
The Doctor Replies "Nine.”

Love your spirit and courage, Mike. 1 down, 34 to go...you can do it--one day at a time! "I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me". Blessings on you and prayers going up for you.
Much love, Joe and Karen
Mike and Susan, wow, you rock. Reading your blog was amazing, I love your honesty, and faith through it all. We missed you last night at C.R. it wasn't the same without you both there. Trinity asked about you Susan, she really likes you, (or maybe she just like the candy you give her :) I gotta tell you that we pray for you as a family every night, but I can't imagine that mine or Ryan's prayers bless God's heart the same way that Trinity's do. She prays for you Mike with such love and faith, I think God will answer her prayers more than mine, so we got you covered there. We love you so much and will continue to be on our knees for you.
Much love,
The Beers Family
Aloha Mike...
As you know, I no longer live on Maui, but still found out what you are going through...I am so sorry. During this huge trial, I pray that you will lean on the Lord's strength while finding a place of inner peace...even when the mask is on!...continue to hold tight with unwavering faith and that your body will be restored with complete healing.
I also want to thank you for being a consistent friend to Russ during the most painful and difficult time...we all need friends no matter what is going on. I believe that if you, Susan, Russ and myself could have met at a different time...our friendships could have blossomed.
praying and thinking of you, Susan and all of your family...
blessings,
bonjo
Whoa! I actually had to tell myself to RELAX when I read this post. Got very tense just reading about all you're going through, brother. I'm praying, praying, praying!
