A splash of color

It is hard to sit down to write on the blog these days. There are no great medical updates, no incredible news, just life. I read other blogs and except for a few, most seem to sort of lose steam over time. Unless you have them on a watch list letting you know when there are updates they seem to just fade into oblivion.

Yesterday was an unusual day. I went to an old friend's funeral. Her name was Susan and she was 55 years old. From my perspective that was pretty young. I hadn't seen her in a number of years and there were a lot of people who attended the funeral I hadn't seen in years either. It made me sad that I hadn't talk to her in so long but that is how life goes. She had struggles, maybe more than most. But you know her brother got up and shared his heart about her and her death. He acknowledged that he and she had had some differences but he gave an analogy that blew my mind. He said imagine taking 40 gallons of different colored of paints, opening the cans and splashing them on a wall. When you were done there would be all these mixes of colors and you can picture what that would look like splashed everywhere. Then he said, you can choose to focus on the mess, on the dark colors or you can choose to focus on the bright colors, the ones that give you a good feeling when you look at them. His choice was to look at those bright colors... and he suggested we do the same as we thought of her. I hope I did that story justice because it was an awesome tribute to his sister.

Otherwise life is good. We are still waiting for Paul and Lauren's baby. We are so stoked for his arrival and to put a name to that boy. Sam's still holding out for Murphy but I recently have become partial to the name Tank. I feel without question that it is truly a masculine name. Call me crazy.

I am scheduled for my next 6-week check-up this Wednesday. Please pray for an "all clear" report.

Love you all

Hold Fast

Mike

Mike you're so intuitive. How did you know it was Tank? Well, since you've ruined the surprise we're just going to have to think of a new name.
