Look I can swim!

Good morning.  Well we made it to the weekend, hurray!!  Yesterday was a monumental day in the day of our grandson Colin.  Susan has been working hard to teach him to swim and yesterday was a banner day.  He was swimming to her and to me, underwater and getting after it like a pro. He was so proud, as were we, so now he has some big swimming plans for himself.  He announced that next time he will jump off the side of the pool and swim.  This is all very cool, especially if you had seen him a week ago.  My wife has the gift. ( You can watch the action below by clicking on the link). Fear is a funny thing. It can completely immobilize. Colin wanted to learn on his terms and didn't want to get his face wet, but we worked with him, and insisted that he was safe, making him deal with his fear of the water. He protested and cried, but the rule was, you have to learn how to swim to be in our backyard around the pool. He longed to swim with the big kids but didn't want to take a chance in the deep water. Had we not insisted and pushed him, he would have missed the joy of being able to feel accomplishment of what he learned and the fear would have won out, robbing him of the joy of swimming.
I wonder if I too needed to be pushed to face my fears so that I can experience the joy of swimming where I can't touch. The deep water is scary and I like Colin like to hold on to the side and stay where it feels safe and secure. But as much as we don't want cancer and protested, we like Colin, are learning to swim where we can't touch the bottom or the sides. We're all learning there is nothing to be afraid of.
It's all good...Hold Fast!!

Jesus said that the little children will lead us! It's good to be reminded how much we cling to "stuff" and forget that God has so much better if we let go & trust Him!

This one seems perfect for today....

One summer evening during a violent thunderstorm a mother was tucking her small boy into bed. She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in his voice, "Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight?" The mother smiled and gave him a reassuring hug. "I can't dear," she said. "I have to sleep in Daddy's room." A long silence was broken at last by his shaky little voice: "The big sissy."

Very cool Mike, must be a joy to see your Grandson swinning and over coming his fears. You know we have a grandson or daughter in the burner. Looks like you got your pool done just in time for summer it looks great Mike. I have had a couple days off from working like a maniac so I have been playing like a maniac and getting jobs around the house done. Mike I was sharing with Ivy what a good friend you are and I miss you a lot. I am praying for you Ike. Well another day off work head to get some mulch and then off to Kanaha. Love you Mike Hold Fast.

That is soooo cute. Funny thing, while we were away, my Coley really started getting the hang of swimming. Big arms and kick, kick, kick are fresh in our vocabulary as well right now.
I saw you at church but you were outta there...I didn't get a chance to make it over to you right away and when I finally looked around you were gone. It's probably draining huh?
I miss you guys,
Hopefully I will see you Tuesday night.

I read this today...I thought it was applicable.

Psalm 63:1 Oh God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.

Just as dry throats and parched lips yearn for a drink, spiritually starved men and women strain toward sustenance. Like a glorious oasis, God's Word gives hope.

Love you guys
