beginning of week 5

WE've made it past the halfway point and are now beginning week 5 of treatment. Only 3 weeks to go! We are counting the days and look back and celebrate the presence and deliverance of the Lord the past 4 weeks. Answered prayers, support, strength and comfort have been there all the way, and we have been able to laugh.
This past weekend we were really tired and sleep deprived because of vomiting and the increased pain. I knew the stress was getting to me. I was crying at random times over nothing specific. Not the big boohoo crying, but the kind where the tears just keep popping out of your eyes. I didn't try to stop it because crying is healing when you share it with the Lord and friends. I felt much better after!
Ok here's the good news, we enjoyed seeing everyone this weekend, it brought some normal back to our lives. Mike slept much better last night, we made the trip back to the bay area without any problems(traveling is very hard on him), He only vomited once yesterday, and I feel refreshed this morning!
Oh yes another thing,  Mike is talking with his new Magna Doodle! Suzi and Scott brought it to him so he could communicate without trying to talk.
Our song on the way back yesterday was HOW GREAT THOU ART with the sun coming through the clouds. It was beautiful.
This picture was taken last night..doesn't Mike look good? ( the artwork is compliments of my brother Steve)

Mike and Susan,
Glad to hear Mike slept well. Just keep it up.
While you were sleeping.
Today was market day. Michele and I went into the open air market. On the way in an old man was singing. "Old man take a look at my life, I'm a lot like you are". Usually I am pretty hard towards the beggars. I don't feel that charity should begin with guilt; and when they feign these poor looks and plead it doesn't give you anything to feel good about. If I have some guilt I think I should deal with it and not confuse it with something that someone tries to put on me. You usually feel bad even when you give them money because they don't appreciate it. And you know they are cursing you as you pay them. This fellow, dark and swarthy, sang clear and firmly. As I passed I felt moved. As you were in my thoughts we doubled back and tossed a coin to his pile. He stopped and took my hand, and putting one hand over the other to give the extra thank you. Although his condition of hair and clothes could have been desperate and pleading he was not. He brought forth strong hands, and a conviction of spirit that was joy. This guy really was just happy and singing. He was appreciative not just of the money but so much more. It is surprising how a person can give you something. As I left I thought he looked like one of the figures I see in the church paintings here, like John the Baptist. "Old man take a look at my life, I'm a lot like you". You know what they say?: The Lord works...

OOPA Mike and Susan....

Pos eiste? (How are you)
I pray your day went better today. I prayed for a good night sleep for you last night...!

Joke for today..

There were these two cows, chatting over the fence between their fields. The first cow said, "I tell you, this mad-cow-disease is really pretty scary. They say it is spreading fast; I heard it hit some cows down on the Johnson Farm." The other cow replies, "I ain't worried, it don't affect us ducks."

Well, my dear friends...I will leave you today with a verse I read this morning in my devotional...

"You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by. Life will be brighter than noonday, and darkness will become like morning. You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety.
Job 11:16-18

Our hope is in Him you loves you more than we can even fathom.

Hey Dude you're lookin pretty sharp!!
Can't say the same for the etch-a-sketch rendering.
Halfway home! You keep "holding fast" & I'll keep you lifted up to our LORD day & night. And you wouldn't believe how often HE does wake me in the night & early early morning. I count it a blessing to know you & an honor to pray for you & Susan & your family.
Aloha!
