self portrait

My good friend Phil who is an amazing artist in Maui, has been making some suggestions that I should draw and practice drawing my subjects before I paint them. To work at getting it perfect in pencil, the shading and subtle nuances. This way I will fully know them before I begin to paint and the detail will come alive and with more depth. Since I have just begun and don't have any bad habits yet, I am excited to get advise from someone who is so accomplished and that I love dearly. I figured since I am looking at myself all the time, I would try drawing myself first. I should have done this years ago before all the wrinkles! Mike is next. This is my first serious attempt in my new drawing book.
Aloha Phil!

aloha mike & susan,
if you are still taking ideas, i think you should call the blog
"Leonard Ohana".

i'm so proud of you....you keep growing and stretching yourself. The picture does resemble you. I did a self portrait once when i was in college...it's hard because of how we see ourselves. You captured the gleam in your eyes that i see everytime i look at you.

Blog name suggestions...
1. "What About Mike?" (like What about Bob?)
2. Life with the Lenards

i'll keep thinking..

i love you both...
