- Mike has cancer (thus the title of said blog)
- Stage 4a tonsil cancer (in the left one for those curious enough to warrant more detail)
- it has spread to the base of his tongue, several lymph nodes, and the side of his throat
- treatment will include massive doses of chemo three times, seven weeks of radiation five days a week
- treatment begins may 1
- we will be living with my brother steve in san carlos (20 mins away from stanford) during the week and home to modesto on the weekends.
- doctors say it will be painful and the direct quote was "8-10 weeks of living hell"
- God is in control, otherwise we would lose it.
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We will continue to update this page as often as possible. Also, we love the phone calls but would prefer people to leave messages here as it is difficult to return the mass numbers of phone messages. Thank you all from our entire family. Aloha.

Hello Mike, Susan and Sam,
This is Kit Lauer's daughter, Maisha. I know you don't know me very well, Mike and Susan, but my prayers are with you all (especially Mike of course).
I think that the blog idea is wonderful-as it has been with my dad.
"Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord!"
much love,
Maisha
Hi Mike and Susan,
We have been praying for you incessantly and want you to know that we love you and appreciate you. Maui is a much better place because you listened to the Lord and came here. God has used you both in such big ways, I look forward to hearing how he uses you in this. In "My Utmost for his highest" today the scripture is "God called unto him . . . And he said, Here am I." Exodus 3:4 and it is so fitting of the example that you both have shown me of obedience to him. Thank you for being my modern day example of following the Lord in all things. I would like to thank you for brining Celebrate Recovery here, because of you my marriage is good, I am a better Mom, I have closer girlfriends and most of all my relationship with God is amazing! May God bless you and keep you as our FAMILIES love go deeply out to you both and your family during this time. "Whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe" Prob 29:25

I'm praying for you, Mike, and will continue every day, asking God to heal you. I pray you will constantly feel the presence of the Lord as you draw near to Him, for in our weakness He is strong. Thank you for being such a model of "servant of Christ". You have touched many lives.

Mike, when that painful days of chemo comes, remember what David said:
"Even though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for you are with me".
We know it will be difficult and painful and hard. All we can do is pray, and trust that God's comfort and peace will be with you through this time...
Just wanted to say we're here for you with lots of love and healing being sent your way.

Mike and Susan,
Your faith and trust in our Lord continues to inspire and amaze me. In all circumstances, you continue to serve and praise Him. We wish you were here so that we could surround you both with the love of all those people whose lives you touched on Maui, but we send that love in our prayers. Thank goodness that you have family and a church family to support you there. We will continue to pray for Mike's complete healing.
Much Aloha,
Carla P
